Auckland’s score was taken from 20S to 324 before Smith was bowled. Garrard was then associated with'Daerc in a good partnership, in which Dacre reached his century. Garrard was bowled at 393, and, the tail failing to wag, the innings closed lor 415, Dacre carrying his bat for 127. Victoria made a bad start, Aleott howling Woodfull off bis pads at 19. Willis was caught without scoring, and in the next over Mayne mishit Snedden, being caught behind the wickets. With three down for 19, Austin and Liddicutt made a good stand despite frequent bowling changes, and took the si-ore to 11.4 before Liddicutt was run out. Austen and Austin made another good partnership, taking the scoic to 254, when Austen was caught for 82. Austin was later run out, and stumps were drawn owing to the tailing light.
