,\ RIG EVENING 'S PROG HA MM I

A most novel and entertaining bill of fare is to be provided at Opera House to-night, for, in addition to the pictorial programme headed by the line attraction “The Law Forbids,” there is scheduled an unique and most entertaining event —the testing out under modern studio conditions of the talents and histrionic ability of a number of aspirants for the honours of “moviedom.” Mr. Beaumont Smith, assisted by a. staff of experts, will conduct the tests, which promise to be of a most entertaining nature. Every assistance will be given by the eminent producer, while definite engagements are promised to successful applicants. Aspirants are called from the audience, directed what to do, rehearsed, and finally photographed in small scenes selected by Mr. Smith. It. should provide a great deal of entertainment to spectators and aspirants. An excellent pictorial programme is headed by “The Law Forbids,” which, as a photoplay of human interest, should appeal to all. Intending patrons are advised to secure early reservation as a capacity house is expected.

COSY THEATRE. THIS EVENING’S PROGRAMME. Presenting the sort fif problems that are being faced in so many homes throughout the country, “Temporary Marriage,” the chief feature at the Cosy Theatre to-night, has been acclaimed by critics as revealing an entirely new outlook on domestic life. It is a story which tugs at the heart,' which stimulates the imagination, and which carries a normal value. It is sure to fascinate every spectator who sees it. A cast of unusual excellence portrays the characters. Tull.v Marshall, popular portrayer of character parts, is cast as the husband and gives a most compelling study, while Myrtle Steadman, as the wife, gives a highly finished performance, marked for the depth of feeling and understanding. Other players excel in their various roles. “The Shooting Star,” this week's chapter of the highly exciting “Fast Steppers,” supplies all the thrills required. Other supporting items are included.
