AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

WAIRARAPA SUB-CENTRE. A meeting of tho Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Sub-Centre was held last evening, Air W. G. Water-son presiding. Delegates present represented Alasterton, Carterton, Pajuatun, Nirealm and Fentherston Clubs, and the Alasterton Harrier Club. Apologies were received from delegates of the Eketahuna and Paii.iat.ua Clubs. Air R. Atilne. the new delegate for the Featherston Club, was welcomed.

The difficulty which arose at the New Zealand championship meeting at Wanganui to get permission for _ T. Oakley to defend his title as New Zealand three miles cycle champion, was discussed, and the following resolution was carried: —‘‘That it be a recommendation to the New Zealand Council to carry an amendment to the rule providing for only three competitors from any Centre being allowed to compete in any New Zealand championship event, so that the holder of any championship will be enabled to defend his title, whether selected to represent his Centre or not, irrespective of the three nominated by his Centre.”

The Alfredton and Tinui Clubs wrote notifying the abandonment of their annual sports meetings for this season on account of the epidemic of infantile para lysis. The Eketahuna Club applied for March 215th for their annual meeting, and submitted a draft of the programme. The date asked for was granted and the programme approved. The secretary was instructed to pay all accounts in connection with the recent evening meeting for the Australian team. It: was decided that a further effort be made to get a return visit of the Australians.

Mr Chalmers tendered his resignation as delegate for Carterton, owing to leaving the district. .Regret was expressed at losing the services of Mr Chalmers, who had at all times done his best for the sub-centre and athletics generally.
