VOTES FOR WOMEN. LABOUR PROPOSAL OPPOSED Press Association—Electric Telegraph— Copyrigh LONDON, Friday. In the House of Commons, the Home Secretary (Sir W. Joynson Hicks) gave notice of motion .tor the rejection of the Labour Private Member’s Bill giving' women the right to vote (which at. present they are eligible to exercise at the age of 30) on the same terms as the men, who are eligible at 21.

The motion considers it inopportune iu the early stages of a new Parliament to pass a franchise bill which would involve a general election, but at the same time invites the House to express an opinion that a scheme of franchise reform should be submitted within the lifetime of the present Parliament. — Aus. and N.Z.
