After choir practice on Thursday night at St. Luke’s Church, Miss Stella Tully, who is about to be ... nrarried, was presented with a copy of “Hymns, Ancient and Modern,” by the members of the choir. A very enjoyable “kitchen tea” was given to Miss Tully in the Fire Brigade Hall, Greytown, on Wednesday evening by a large number of friends. The many friends of Mr. W. J. Ten- uP nent, of Essex street, will regret to learn of his early departure from Masteiton. Mr. Tennent has decided to take up his residence in Dunedin, and his daughter, Miss Tennent, will accompany him. During his sojourn in this town, Mr. Tennent has always been more than eager to help any deserving object and has rendered very valuable service to the community in this direction. The annual conference or the Methodist Church of New Zealand is to be held on Thursday next in the Taranaki street Church, Wellington. The retiring president (Rev. A. Ashcroft of Thame's) will induct the new president (Rev T. E. Richards of New Plymouth), who will deliver the official conference address. The Revs. W. Beckett and F. J. Handy will leave for the conference on Monday. Miss Tennent, formerly assistant matron of the Wellington Hospital, was given a farewell tea by the Trained Nurses’ Association. Miss Bieknell, director of the New Zealand Nursing Division, [Miss Pengelly and Miss Thomson (matron of the Club )reccived the guests and a pleasant time followed. Miss B:-knell referred to the fact that the Dunedin Hospital, to which Miss Tennent has been appointed matron, was now associated with the university by the establishment of the diploma of nursing, which added greatly to the importance of the appointment. Miss Tennent is a daughter of Mr. W. -1. Tennent, of Essex street.

Miss W. Fafeita, who has filled the position of accountant in the oiftce of Messrs. Lyttle and Co., Ltd., was yesterday the recipient of presentations from the staff and the firm. On behalf of the staff, Mr. L. Williams handed to Miss Fafeita a silver cane dish, at the same time expressing the regret all felt at losing so capable and obliging lady. Mr. Young, for his firm, paid a tribute to Miss Fafeita’s capabilities and loyalty. She had proved herself reliable and obliging to all concerned, and in wushing her happy days and congratulations upon her approaching marriage, handed here a complete outfit of cutlery and silver. Her fiance, Mr. Ken Cooper, w r as also the recipient of a shaving set from the firm. Mr. Cooper thanked the staff and firm on Miss Fafeita’s and his own behalf.
