SYDNEY TRACK WORK. SYDNEY, Tuesday. In track work, a number of the leading horses are proving highly satisfactory. Ballymena, starting slowly, covered a mile in 1.504, the last half in 50isee. Nigger Minstrel pleased onlookers by doing a mile in 1.49. Gloaming covered a mile in 1.494, and Glentruin seven furlongs in 1.38. None of the horses were ridden out. — Press Assn. TURF TOPICS. The Jumpers’ Plat at Wanganui tomorrow ought to be a match between Alaric and Tinokaha, but the presence of Gray on Ilyrax might make a difference.

Scion has gone amiss in the near fore joint. There is no chance of him being fit to race for a long time, and he is to be sent home to his owner in South Canterbury for a spell.

Th e most interesting gallop at Wanganui on Monday morning was done by Comical (R. Reed) and Diamond Ring. They were 'to have gone half a mile, but jumped off well past the post, making their effort less than that distance. In the run up the straight Diamond Bing showed the way until a chain from the post, Comical getting his head in front. They ran the first furlong in 13 1-ssec., and the three furlongs in 38 4-seec.

While opinions are divided upon the question as to whether Awake would have won the open six furlongs race at the North Taranaki Hunt. Club meeting had Gray not been disappointed in his effort to get upon on the inside of Gaill'ard at the distance, tlier e can be no doubt that he would have made Reremoana’s task much harder. At Wanganui to-morrow Awake meets Reremoana on 71b better terms, and lie should run prominently, despite the improved class engaged.
