RADIAC.

“MARKED SUCCESS.” The following is an extract from ar"t letter, dated 13th June, to the directors, 1 from Mr Shackelford: — ‘‘ I have not written you recently on account of the rapidly changing conditions, and also because Mr Bennett and I have both been working just about 24 hours a day endeavouring to finish up our experiments. “On June 2nd we had achieved such marked success that I wired you the good news, and this success has again been repeated before three experts of highest standing—Mr Cain, Dr. Penniman, of the firm of Penniman and Brown, and aMr Graham. Our experiments will be continued until a series of runs have been made before these men, and a most complete record of everything which goes in and everything which goes out will be kept by outside expert record men of the Pennsylvania Water and Power Company, and willbe embodied in a report signed by these men. “We are going a 3 fast as possible with our limited advantages; we can make only 800 to 9001bs of metal at i time, and our operating hours have been limited from eleven o ’clock at night to six in the morning, with the exception of Saturday noon.,to Monday, morning. This, you. will admit, does not allow us much time if we have difficulty getting contact. However, since we have demonstrated one heat before experts, our opportunities have been extended so we can operate continuously so long as our endurance will last. We expect to commence on Monday morning and continue until we have produced sufficient iron for all necessary purposes. “We cannot give you anything definite with regard to a sale, except thatwe have in hand excellent organisation plans, and after our experiments are completed no doubt we will be able to fix up something satisfactory very quickly. ”
