HOP PICKING HOLIDAYS.

REINSTATEMENT--REQUESTED, (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NELSON, Wednesday. A depuation from Motueka and Riwaka will wait upon the Minister of Labour this week, asking for the reinstatement of the hop-picking holidays, and will present a large petition in support. There is every indication that the Education Board will resist the proposal, and will be backed by the Department and Education Council and inspectorial staff. All favour uniformity in holidays. A good deal depends on the Minister’s attitude.

There is a diversity of opinion among school committees throughout the hop and fruit-growing districts.
