WOOL BOARD.
PROPOSAL REJECTED. i (By 'Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. A letter was received by the executive of the Canterbury Slieepowners’ Unio'n from the Dominion secretary of the New Zealand Fanners’ Union forwarding a resolution which has been submitted to the various provincial executives of the Farmers’ Union for their consideration: “That the object of the farmers of New Zealand be to form one big association with the right to set up three boards, a Meat Board, Wool Board and Dairy Board, to control all exports or any other business connected with the exports of New Zealand farmers, and to collect a levy of not more than Id in the £ on exportable value for the purpose of financing the organisation.’’ After full discussion the secretary was instructed to inform the Farmers’ Union that the Slieepowners ’ Executive were not in favour of the suggested creation of a wool board. Members generally were of the opinion that the same conditions do not apply regarding sales of wool as was the case with other forms of produce. Wool buyers were operating here from all quarters of the globe in keen competition.
