THE HAYNE CASE.
x SERIOUS ALLEGATION. , against a woman. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Monday. The hearing has concluded' in : the charge against Rosina Sarah Macfie of having attempted to dissuade by a bribe the principal witness in the Hayne case from giving evidence. The brother of the girl stated that when Macfie left, his sister was in a semi-hysterical conditions. Accused told him her name was Miss Brown, and she had a message for his sister, but she would not u-.i him the message. Detect s ( Beer submitted a statement by tiic accused to tbe effect that she told the girl to pull herself together and she would look after her when she came out. She denied saying Hayne would give a lot of money if she did not speak, or that Inglis would get ten years if she did speak. All she asked the girl was to promise "he would not worry. Accused ais« denied giving the name of Brown.
The defence was reserved, and accused was committed for trial on bail.
