IN SWEDISH TIMBER YARD.

(Received' Thursday, 8.30 a.m.) COPENHAGEN, Wednesday.

Damage amounting to over three million kroner (roughly £160,000) was caused by a fire in the Skoghall Timber yard, Karlstad, one of the most modern yards in Sweden, equipped with electric tramways. Three thousand standards were destroyed. The fire spread for nearly threequarters of a mile, burning farm buildings, cattle and sheep. One thousand men fought the fire unavailingly.—Aus. and X.Z.
