MUSICAL UNION.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A‘ meeting of the committee "was held last evening, Mr W. Iggulden being in the chair. The conductor, Mr Horace Hunt, also attended, ex officio. Miss A. Bary wrote resigning her position as honorary pianist© on account of pressure of professional duties. It was decided to appoint Mrs W. G. Perry to the position for the ensuing year. i The first concert‘of the season will be held probably on July 4th, and arrangements are in hand for the engagement of soloists. It is proposed to include in the programme a selection from Coleridge Taylor’s beautiful work, “A Tale of Old Japan.” The officers of the society include the following:—Patron, His Worship the Mayor (Mr O. N. ■ r *. Praghell); president, Dr. J. A. Cowie; vice-presidents, Dr. Archer Hosking, Dr. N. H. Prior, Messrs Oren H. Beetham, C. E. Daniell, E. G. Eton, W. M. Kebbell, R. Krahagen and J. P. Perry. The following new active members were fleeted: —Mesdames D. Ogilvy, W. G. Perry, N. H. Prior P. Whitton, Misses C. Donald, I. Donald, G. Hale, B. Hiddlestone, H. Ingley, M. Jackson, V. Jackson, V. Judd, E. Jenkins, A. Ralph, W. Rutter, G. A. Smith and E. Voyce, Messrs G. Masters, E. W. Reid, E. Rothwell and S. J. Smith.

The active membership of the society now totals 64, and it is anticipated that this, number will .shortly be increased to seventy. It is the intention of the society to canvass for honorary members. A subscription of fifteen shillings entitles the subscriber to two reserved seats for each of the three concerts to be given during the season.
