DROWNED IN RIVER.
DURING- HIGH FLOOD. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Frederick George ILo watson lost his life crossing the Rakaia -river in a gig during a high 'Hood, six miles from the Southbridge station.The horse -and gig were washed away. Neal Munro, Howatson’s companion, swam ashore. Howatson’s body has not been recovered.
