AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

KIRKSEY'S SUPERIORITY,

SYDNEY, Wednesday. E. W. Carr, in an interview, frankly admitted that when he was defeated by Kirksey he lost to a better man. He emphatically refuted the report that Kirksey had beaten the gun, adding: “We all got away together and I was faily beaten by three or four inches.'' Carr hopes to again meet Kirksey at the Olmypie games next year. As a result of much helpful advice received from Kirksey, and his experiences during his New Zealand trip, Carr believes he will be able to materially improve his running time.—Press Assn.
