A Loudon cable states that Prince Henry, who intended to ride in. the same races as the Prince of Wales,-was exercising a horse at the Weodon barracks ’ riding school, when lie was thrown with some violence while taking a jump. Several officers ran to his assistance and found the Prince unconscious. Fortunately the concussion was of the slightest, and he recovered consciousness almost immediately. It was reported later that the Prin'ce -was stilL in bed, and had enjoyed a good dinner. The accident is not serious.

Their Excellencies the Governor-Gen-eral and the Viscountess Jellicoe will leave Takapau towards the end of this month. His Excellency will thefix visit Wellington for a day or two, and afterwards will go deer-stalking in Otago, at the head of Lake Wan aka.

The death took place in New Plymouth on Monday afternoon of Mr Louis Bremer, a well knowu sheep farmer and horse breeder, of Kohi, Waverley. Deceased, who was a bachelor,, and 73 years of age, had been in illhealth for some, time, and his .end. was not unexpected. The death occurred at Wellington yesterday of Mr W. S. Card, .brother of Mr J. W. Card, Mayor of Featherston. The deceased, who enlisted in 1915 with the 7th Reinforcements, served twelve months in France. He was invalided home in 1917, and has been in the Rautu Hospital ever -since, never having recovered from his injuries. The funeral will take place at Featherston ou Friday. ' The many friends of Mr Archibald Thomson, an early settler, (well known, in Wellington and the Wairarapa, will regret to learn of his death, which took place at Wellington South on Tuesday. Deceased, who was 82 years of age, was bom at Leith, Scotland, and arrived in Wellington in the late fifties as a member of the crew of the ship Minerva. On that vessel’s arrival he left the shipin company, the late Mr .Thomas Bennett, Vf Martinborough; Some little time later he took up his residence in Wellington. Munns, of Pahiatua, was married to Mr Harry Edward Beales, voungest son of Mr A. Beales,, of Cambridge, England. The bride was. given away by her father, Mr - C, Munns, of' Woodville. The bridesmaid was Miss Gladys Munns, sister of thebride. Mr Jas. Finn performed the (duties of best man.

The marriage took place quietly St. Paul-s Pro-Cathedral, yesterday afternoon, of Miss Enid Alison Elder, youngest daughter of Mrs Elder, of Aurora Terrace, and the late Mr Austin Elder, of the Wairarapa, to Mr Robert Fulton Pattie, of Marlborough, son of Mrs C. Pattie, of Blenheim. The Ven. Archdeacon Johnson officiated. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Paul Elder, wore a frock of ivory-beaded chaimeuse with a pretty ehaimeuse hat to match, and. carried a. bouquet of white roses and carnations with maidenhair fern. Her sister, Mrs Jdlin Downey, of Lottin Point, Bay of Plentv, attended as matron of honour,, and wore a frock (of pale pink organdie, with a black Hat, The best man .was . Mr Bell, of Blenheim. Following . tfrfc. , ceremony, a reception attended by ,, tives aim a few intimate friends was held by Mrs Elder at her home in Aur-.,_. ora Terrace. Mrs Elder wore a. frock of navy brocaded charmeuse, with tour dies lof cherry red braiding,-and. a black .. hat. She carried a bouquet of red.' roses.
