FOOTBALL.
MASTERTON CLUB. The annual meeting of the above club was keli! a the A.M.C.A. rooms last evening, Mr. S. It. Gawith (vicepresident) being in the chair. About 50 members were present. The annual report (already published) and balance sheet were adopted. A credit balance of £2 odd was disclosed on the year’s working. The report and balance sheet in connection with the club’s Accident and Benefit Fund was also submitted by the fund secretary (Mr. J. Nvhane) and showed a credit of £l2 11s 6d on the year’s working. —The chairman and "several members congratulated the secretary and committee on the satisfaetorv position disclosed. The'elect ion of officers resulted as folows: —Patron, G. 11. Perry; president, I). K. Logan; vice-presidents, D. Horne, IST. 11. James, S. It. Gawith, .J. W. Buchanan, W. G. Lamb, Hugh I’errv, Dr. Moser, G. W. Sellar, L'. V\ r . Pavton. A. 11. Daniell, G. Wilson and S. Willoughby; secretary and treasurer, K. E. Pickering; auditor, G. Wk Sellar; delegates to Rugby Union, R. Ward, W. Darvill and E. Reid; club captain, W. Darvill; club coach, A. Torrance; junior coach, S. Murray; junior selection committee, the field captain, vice-captain and coach; Fourth Grade coach, R. Ward; general committee, M. Fly, D. Provan, L. Nicholson, W. Darvill, A. Torrance, G. Rushton, K. Ward, A. Golder, M. Willoughby, A. Gardner, E. Reid, W. Harding and S. Barber; secretary to club’s insurance fund, J. Nvhane.
Thirty new active and honorary members were elected. Correspondence was received from the secretary to the Memorial Park regarding the election of two delegates to represent football on the directorate.— It was resolved that Messrs. D. K. Logan and G. Wilson be nominated for election by a joint meeting of footballers of the town, as asked in the letter. Mr. A. O’Donnell wrote with reference to massaging players this season, and enclosing a schedule of fees. —Left with the incoming committee to make arrangements. i The annual subscription was fixed at IDs for seniors, 5s for juniors and 2s 1 Gd for lower grades. Honoroary members’ subscriptions were fixed at not less than ss. It was decided to open the season with ,a practice at the Memorial Park on March 24th. The incoming committee was empowered to try and arrange for a suitable building, which the club has in view, for a temporary gymnasium, pending the completion of the building upon ] Memorial Park. It was decided to support the notice of motion to be introduced at the annual meeting of the W airarapa J
Rugby Union to reduce the size of the management committee. It was also resolved to endorse the motion passed by the Greytown Club, expressing every confidence in Mr. E. McKenzie as secretary to the Rugby Union, and hoping that the report of his pending resignation is without foundation.
Special votes of thanks were passed to the retiring committee, and also to the secretary of the insurance fund and the general secretary for their good work during the past season. A hearty vote of thanks to the chairman terminated one of the most enthusiastic annual meetings ever held by tbe club.
At a meeting of the newly-formed p. and T. Association football team the following officers were elected: President. A. E. Hounsell; vice-presidents, C. F. Yallanc, O. H. Bcetham, H. O. Toogood, L. A. Wadliam, L. S. Nieol; committee, W. Nicholls (chairman), W. J. C. Miller, W. Harding, J. R. Miller, E. Nansett; secretary and treasurer. J. R. Miller. Mr. L. A. Wadliam has donated a medal to be given to the most improved player for the 1923 season.
The Friendly Societies’ seven-a-sidc tournament will take place at Carterton on Saturday, March 24th.
