OPERA HOUSE. Healing by faith, or a demonstration! of the presence of divine power in human affairs is. the basic theme in George Melford’s latest Paramount super-production, ‘‘The Faith Healer’ which will be shown at the Opera House next Wednesdov. The play upon which the picture is founded was written by William Vaughan Moody, whose play ‘ ‘ The Great Divine” scored success some years ago. The stage production of “The Faith Healer” also proved highly successful. The story concerns a voung shepherd who feels the divine call to go forth and heal the sick and suffering. When lie is at the height of* bis work, love enters his life, and with the birth of his passion he. feels his divine power waning. He is on the point, of renouncing his mission, when it dawns upon him that love is a giti of God and that he can entertain a pure love for the.girl and at the same time <>o on with his work. A photoplay that maintains an element of mystery throughout the entire production is “The Secret of the Hills” at the Paramount Theatre. It presents Antonio Moreno in a role to which he is well suited. There are many thrilling incidents in the story and the action moves rapidly through a series of startling events, and includes many incidents of a striking nature-, such as the finding of the murdered man, the discovery of the counterfeiters ’ den, and a buried treasure placed there by King James lIL, King of Scotland. The opening scenes of the picture arc exceptionally picturesque. They take place in a Chinese restaurant in which the Oriental atmosphere is well maintained.
