ALFREDTON v. BIDEFORD. Tho first of the matches for the Whare-koa” Cup took place on the Alfredton Domain, Alfredton defeating Bicleford by 48 runs. Alfredton scored 136 and Bideford 88. Dunderdalo made a nice 48 for Bideford. Scott Raleigh (43), Purvis Hay (27) and V. L. Fairbrother (23) were the only Alfredton men to get runs. Purvis Hays 27 deserves mention, because he has not played for many years, and yet made his runs without a mistake when they were needed badly. Master Monty Fairbrother made 16 not out at the end in a manner that deserves special note. HEATHCOTE WILLIAMS SHIELD. RETAINED BY CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) V CHRISTCHURCH. Friday. The Christchurch Boys’ High School retained the Heathcote Williams’ Shield by defeating Waitaki by 318 runs.
