RED STAR CLUB. ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report of tiie Red Star Football Club for the season 1921: — - The committee of the Red Star Football Club have very great pleasure m presenting the annual report l’or the season 1921. Thanks to the co-opera-tion of members and tlui ladies’ committee, the club is in a more prosperous state than for a good many years, the treasurer reporting, a credit balance of £l3. The heartiest thanks of the members were expressed by Vicepresident B. Braggins to the ladies’ committee for 'the splendid work they had done for the club in making the annual dance the success it was. We had two dances through the season, also the annual smoke concert and a smoke concert to the junior team, all of which were very successful, and showed . a credit balance. Members’ subscriptions came forward much better than in previous years, although a few arc still owing. The thanks of the club are due to our worthy president, Air .B. I. who, besides giving a donation, kimllyV'ovided a smoke concert to the juniors for winning the Wairarapa noithern division competition, at his own expense \ also to the following vicepresidents for donations and help: .Messrs O. J. Percy, R. J. Paul, W. J. Loader (donation and gold medal for senior it earn), B. Braggins, A. AlcEwan, R. J. Pearson, E. Freeman and F. Lewis. We lmd the pleasure; of meeting Air Gardiner, the first .secretary ami treasurer of the Star Club. He expressed his appreciation of the affairs of the club and asked us to convey his best wishes to the members for the coming season. We have also to thank Air J. O’Leary, club coach, for his excellent services to members throughout the season, also to Air A. O’Donnell (trainer), for the benefits the players received at his hands, and also to Mr 13. Freeman for kindly placing a room at our disposal for committee meetings, and other help. Our senior team, although finishing last in the championship, played some very creditable games, and should have finished in a higher position. The junior team, was more successful, winning the Northern Division, and being runners-up in itlie final for the championship, being beaten by Daleiield. It behoves all members to give all the assistance they can this year in procuring new members, and to place a third grade, and also a fourth grade team in the field, if possible. A very pleasing function took place at the annual smoke concert, when the opportunity was itaken to present our worthy coach, Air J. O Leary, with a set of pipes. Air O ’Leary feelingly replied. The medals presented by Air E. Houlihan, Air W. J. Conder, and Air R. Shackleton, were also handed over to the winners. Air H. Carson winning the gold medal for best back, Air Sid. Dixon the medal for best forward, and Air G. Davis for best allround player in junior team. YVe have to thank our delegates to the Wairarapa Rugby Union for the able manner in which they looked after the interests of the club, .especially Air R. J. Southgate (patron), who was again elected chairman of the management committee of the Wairarapa Rugby Union for the eighth year in succession. We have been promised a good deal of support in the coming season. We have also been promised three gold medals for competition already, by Messrs E. Houlihan, L. A. Wadham and F. Slater. The club had a good percentage of players representing. them in the Wairarapa senior and junior representatives, and all proved themselves wirthy of selection. Invitations were received from the Alasterton and Alauriceville Clubs for jtheir annual dance and smoko concert. The compliments were returned. Outside matches were played with the Alauriceville and Taueru teams, also a combined match between Alasterton and Rod Stars with Tenui, all of which were enjoyed. A recommend.:non from the committee to members is for all players to go. out into the field of play in proper uniform, and to mil up to practices and not lie so dilatory as in previous years. In conclusion, the outgoing committee wish to extend tlieir hearty thanks to the members for their support, and wish tin club c-eiy success in the coming season.

The Taucra Club will enter a team for the Wairarapa junior championship.

It is rumoured that -T. Donald, Q. Donald, and Cundv, of Featlierston, will play for Gladstone this season.
