Bates reports for the twenty-four hours from 9 a.m. this day as follows: — The indications are for westerly winds, strong to gale, and backing by west to south. The weather will probably prove squally, with heavy showers. ' The night will probably prove very cold. The barometer is unsteady, but will rise soon.
