AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
EVENING RUNS. The first evening run of the season was held on the Park Oval on Thursday when three events were run off. A large number of competitors toed the mark in each event. Especially was this so in the schoolboys’ race, when no fewer than twenty-seven faced the starter. The following are the results: 100 Yards Schoolboys’ Handicap: — First heat: W. Yates 1, R. MeEwen 2, L. Hagerty 3; also started, McDonald, McLean, Devine, Penny, Tinsley. Second heat: R. Gully 1, C. McLean 2, A. Currie 3; also started. King, Sylvester, Collenge, G. Williams, Clarke. Third head: R, Pook 1, L. Williams 2, R. Rose 3; also started, Speedy, Pinkelly, Wood, Young, Wylie, Speard, Hooper, Enshward. Final: R. Pook 1, W. Yates 2, L. Williams 3. ‘ 100 Yards Handicap.—First heat: W. Harding (18yds) .1, Willoughby (12 yds) 2, B. Livingstone (7yds) 3. Second heat: L. Taucher (Byds) 1, Peters (Byds) 2, Woods (10yds) .3. Final L. Taucher 1, Willoughby 2, Harding 3. Time, lOlsee. 440 Yards Handicap:—F. Butch pt (25 yds) 1, Willoughby (40yds) 2, F. Taucher (40yds) 3. Time, sosec.
