Speakers at a meeting of tlie American Bankers’ Association declared that the farmers of the United States were facing a shrinkage in prices compared with 1920 aggregating more than £.)00,000,000, or neifrly 17 per cent. This year’s wool clip totalled 307,000 pounds and at the prices prevailing in September, 1920 (?) would have brought £26,600,000, but on the basis of the present prices would bring only £15,600,000. In the same manner farmers will lose £200,000,000 on corn and £66,600,000 on cotton.
DECLINE in LEATHER AND HIDES. MELBOURNE, Wcdnesday. The declining state of the hides and leather market, which has been in operation for some months, continues. Since April light calf hides have declined 74 per cent., and other sorts 27. to 55 per cent., and leather 16 to 19 per cent. - £ RABBIT-SKIN SALES. MELBOURNE, Wednesday. This week’s rabbit-skin sales showed a decline. Super winter sorts ranged from Md to 19d., and second winters from 9d to 25d per lb., according to quality.
