i ARGENTINE WOOL. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association; BUENOS AIRES, Thursday. President Irigoyen has recommended the enactment of a law exempting wools from export tax, and authorising the Government to negotiate with foreign countries for the sale of the wool on a credit extending for not more than two years.The measure is intended to aid the holders of wool to dispose of the large surplus stpeks accumulated on account of the slack market. The Argentine National Bank would discount the documents of sale. P ATTT ATP A STOCK SALJS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their I’ahiatua sale, held on Tuesday: We had a small entry, which we offered to a very large attendance. There was very little competition. We quote: — Small hoggets, 21s; dairy cows, £lO to £ls; dairy heifers, £l2 to £ls; light draught horse, £l7 10s. EKETAIIUNA STOCK SALE. The Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd., Stock Department, report on their weekly sale, held at Eketahuna yesterday: —Owing to tho boisterous weather no sheep were yarded, but there was a good yarding of dairy cattle, and good sorts sold readily, but late calvers were hard to quit. Tho brake horses sold on behalf of the W.F.C.A. Merchandise Department were a very fine lot, and made good prices. Wc quote: —Springing heifers. £l4 10s, £l4, £l3 15s, £lO ss; dairy 'cows, £l3 10s; empty heifers, £4 0s; yearling heifers, £3; weaner pigs, Bos; brake horses, £3l ss, £3O, £2O 10s, £2O, £2S, £2O. CARTERTON HEIFER SALE. The Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association, Ltd., Stock Department, report as follows: —We held our annual sale yesterday. Owing to the very boisterous weather, local vendors did* not bring their entries forward. Nevertheless, we yarded 70 head, and only ten head went out of the yards unsold. Quotations: —On account of Mr S. H. Oates, 3-year heifers on drop (very good), £l6 10 s to £2O 10s; others, a little later ? £l4, £l4 10s to £l6 10s. On account of other vendors: —3vear heifers on drop, £lO, £lO 10s, £ll ss, £l2, £l2 10sUo £l3 70s; late calvers, £9 10s to £11; dairy cows on drop, £l2 10s; heifers, .just calved, £l4 and £8; 2-year heifers in calf, £B, £9 to £9 10s; empty dairy heifers, 2-ycnr, £5 12s (id; yearlings, £3 15s. CLEARING SALE Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having held a very successful clearing sale of live and dead stock on account of Mr U. Welch, Opaki. There was a largo attendance, buyers being presetu from Pahiatua and the whole of the Wairarapa districts. The cows, many of which were late calvers, and quite a number were aged, met with keen competition, and realised up to £22. Horses were in keen demand, and made up to £3(5. Breeding sows made £9 15s, £lO 15s to £l4. Implements and sundries made the following prices: —Spring earts, £35 ( £l3 10s, £l2 10s; ploughs, £29 10s and £l2; harrows, £l4 and £9; mower, £24. The catering was in the capable hands of Mr Ferris, of Masterton.
