IMMENSE DEFEAT OF REDS.
A RED PANIC

A Polish eoniiuuniqm* reports that after desperate lighting the Poles indicted an immense defeat on the. lied Northern Army, captured ITzasnysz, Mlnva, and Sob Ia u, thus surrounding the bulk of the Soviet Fourth Army and the whole of the Third. The cavalry corps is closing the lust:
avenue of retreat-. The extreme right wing ot the enemy is" fleeing in disorder. The booty is enormous and the prisoners very numerous.
The Polish centre continues its .northerly advance. The Polish cavalry annihilated a heavy artillery group of twenty-two gnus, destined to bombard Warsaw, tand captured a Soviet order, instructing the commanders to-destroy the artillery batteries, and mount the infantry' ou. horses. This indicates, in a measure, tlic Red panic. The demoralisation in the northern Red armies is spreading to the southern front. The Reds advancing’ ou Lemberg have begun io retreat, and the Polish pursuers already have reached the line of the river Bug. GREAT NUMBER OF PRISONERS. (‘‘The Times.”) LONDON, Wednesday. Oliieial. —The Poles have taken prisoner 8:1,000 Russians, whilst -0,000 have surrendered in Germany 7 , and auotlier 10,000 are definitely cut off. The Red Army was estimated at ISM,OOO during the attack on Warsaw. Five fresh -divisions which were being rushed' from ‘Siberia, mutinied. Munitions for the Poles; which were recently landed at Danzig, lie on the wharves. The transport workers, "who control the town, threaten bloodshed and to tear up the railways if a single man or rifle is sent to assist the Poles. RUSSIANS RETREAT INTO PRUSSIA. (Received Friday, 0.10 a.m.) . CO PEXII AG EX, Wednesday. Twenty-six thousand Russians have retreated into East Prussia. A whole brigade with its staff crossed the frontier near .lohanishurg. MUNITIONS FOR POLAND (Reuter's Telegrams.) PARIS, Wednesday. A Note has been sent to Sir Reginald Tower at Danzig, in the name of the Conference of Ambassadors, asking him to ensure the transit ot war material .through Danzig, in conformity with Poland’s fights under the Treaty of Versailles. , If the dockers at the port will not, ensure the landing of cargoes for Poland, the Commissioner will have to effect the- unloading by all ‘available means and protect freedom of work. POLES SHORT OF AMMUNITION. (Received Friday, 9.10 a.m.) VANCOUVER, Thursday. A message from Paris states that l lie Poles have entered Grodno. According to semi-official statements issued in Berlin, the Polish armies are facing a serious ammunition shortage, and the Bolsheviks are preparing a new line on the Xeimen river. United Press reports that the Russian reply 7 to the Auglo-ltalian ultimatum appears to waive any armistice terms proposed at Minsk and not contained in the digest which Kameucff submitted to Mr. Lloyd George. RUSSIA AND BRITAIN. PRACTICALLY DECLARATION- OF WAR. LONDON, Thursday. (Received Friday, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. The Pall Mall Gazette says that it is reported that the Russian delegation has admitted that their departure will be. practically equivalent to a declaratioh of war upon England and that it would take the form of an attack upon Britain’s eastern empire.
