LONDON WOOL SALES. OPENING RATES MAINTAINED. Press Association—Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.') (Received Friday, 9.J0 a.m.) LONDON, Thursday. At the wool sales a good selection of Merinos was offered, and opening rates were fully maintained.
(Cables from London are to the effect that the wool sales opened with a large attendance there being more Continental buyers in evidence. There was good competition for merino and crossbred wools, and prices ranged from 5 to 7 per cent higher than at lßst sales. Coarse and medium crossbred are not in such good demand, and prices are unchanged.) DECLINE IN TALLOW PRICES. (Received Friday, a.m.) LON DO N, Thursday. At the tallow sales Ft7o casks were offered. Sixty-live casks were sold at a decline of 3s. Fine mutton realised 70s per cwt., medium 71s, fine beef 7Ss, and medium beef 71s.
