Visitors were present from all the immediate districts, and also from Dannevirke, Rakaunui, Carterton .and Masterton, and. the evening was a most, enjoyable one. After the supper adjAjnment, Mr. D. O’Brien, chair* tho School Committee, in a feeling little speech, eulogistic of the good qualities of Mrs. Selby, said that’they -bad felt they could not let the guests ■depart without some token of the esteem in which the family was held by the people of Scarborough. Mrs. Selby bad always been to the fore in anything done for the school, or any other wferk at Scarborough, the boys and girls haA grown up amongst them, and the former had a record of service for the second to that of no family In the district.
