BOXING.
VOLAIRE DEFEATS HOLMES. . The French light-weight boxer, Eugene Volaire, who recently fought TTavilah Uren at Wellington, met Harry Holmes, of Australia, on Saturday night at Greymouth, in a fifteen-round contest for a purse of £3OO. It was one of the best fights yet seen on the West Coast, and after going the full journey the verdict was awarded to Volaire on points. The two most prominent visitors, ‘‘Tommy” tlren and Fritz Holland;, have been matched by the Wanganui Boxing Association for a purse of £SOO. Some few weeks back Uren defeated Holland.
