PROBLEM OF EDUCATION.

NEW SUGGESTION BY MINISTER, (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Referring to the education of children in the-backldocks, Mr. C. J. Parr, Minister for Education, told the Canterbury Education Board to-day that he thought the time had come for the department, to review this problem. He had had <’n idea for some tithe that'the Goverinfient would, have to provide hostels as a better, more efficient and more economical method of solving the problem. He meant a hostel near one of the larger schools, and he did not want to bring the children into the town schools. He believed this method would be quite as cheap as increasing capitation, which was the only other way and which would not get over the difficulty of inefficient .teachers. He intended to recommend that steps lm taken in the .direction indicated in one or two districts.
