A UNIQUE GATHEKING. \ nove land unique gathering was held at ; the Masterton Methodist Church vesterday afternoon. lnvita* tions had been given to persons who were either sixty years of age or were Grandparents, to. attend. Among those present Were twenty-five persons o-ser seventy vears of age, eight over eighty, six over eighty,-one, and six over eighty-two. The eldest person present was Mrs Oatt, who was in her ninetieth year. There were many okl residents of the Wairarapa present, including eighteen who hud lived in the district for fifty vears, and nine for sixty years. Mr. Chamberlain was the oldest resident present, with a. record of sixtyfive years in tin* Wjiirarapa. The oldest person born in New Zealand wa.s Mr. Shiite, who was born in Now Plymouth seventy-eight years ago. The person present with the largest number of descendants was Mrs Catt, who could boast of eight children, , 28 grandchildren, and 140 great-grand-children —a total of J"0 descendants. The two oldest married couples present were Mr and Airs Z. M. Hoar and Mr and Mrs Wingate, who had been married 56 years. The oldest .Christian present was Mr Burton, who claimed to have been a member of the Mctlumist Churclc for sixty-four years.
