HUN ARMY.
EASTERN STRENGTH. BEDUCTITNS MADE. (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) (Received Thursday, 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, Wednesday. In the House of Commons Mr Lloyd George made a statement that; on May 10th the Inter-Allied Commission Council estimated the strength of the German ariuv. at 270,000. By .June 10th a German wireless message officially stated that the army had been reduced to 200,000, and that the forces in the neutral zone had been reduced to ten battalions, five squadrons and one battey. ; This information, said Mr Lloyd George, had not' been checked by the Inter-Allied Commission, but there is evidence to show that there had been a considerable. reduction in the aiinj during past months. The German Government, stated Mr, Lloyd George, had issued orders for the disbandment and disarmament of the unauthorised reserve formations, but was still pressing-, for. permission to retain armed constabulary.
