TECHNICAL SCHOOL.

MANAGER’S MEETING. The i usual monthly meeting of the Board of Managers ’of the Alasteyton Technical School was held last night, there being present: Messrs J. AT. Coradinc (chairman), J. W. Blackman, O. E. Daniel 1, E. G. Eton and W. T. Grundv. Air A. W. Hogg was absent through illness, and the managers passed a resolution of sympathy with him. in his severe indisposition, wishing him a speedy recovery, and granting him lea ye of absencc_unt.il his health is improved. The Director reported that the number of students enrolled during the first term was 380 free place pupils, 146 paying students, and 35 returned soldiers, making a total of 343, the class enrolments being 804. Ot the 341 students 369 have joined the school for the first time this year. Since the commencement of the present term less than a fortnight ago, 26 new pupils have joined the school, made up of 3 7 paying students, 5 returned soldiers, and 4 free place pupils, bringing the enrolment up to 307. It was also reported that three new classes had been formed this term,, two in chemistry and agricultural science under Air C. A. Gumming, 8.A., one class in wool-sorting, under Air Chas. Bannister. Two of those classes, held pn Wednesday afternoons, woolelassing at 3.30 and agricultural science at 4 p.m., are specially intended foi .returned soldiers from the ’Wairarapa Training Farm. Both of the science classes have now reached the limit of the accommodation. ' The financial position of the school was renorted as being sou/id, there being a credit balance of over £123? after passing for payment accounts and salaries amounting to £132 0s 7d.
