In the House of Commons at question time, -Mr Austin Chamberlain (the Chancellor of the Exchequer) stated that after carefully considering the suggested scheme for a levy on war wealth in the report of the Committee on War '.Wealth, file Government had concluded that the dangers of such a levy altogether outweighed its advantages. Therefore it- had decided not totake the proposals in that sense.
