MOTOR ACCIDENT.
■ ON CARTERTON ROAD. MR R. J. SMITH INJURED. • A rather serious motor accident occurred on the Carterton road yesterday, evening, as a result of which Mr h. J, Smith.'builder, of Worksop road, susstained somewhat serious injuries. Mr Smith, together with his partner, Mr Percy Rose, wgs coming towards Masterton in a car, the accident happening near the junction of Short street and High street. Mr Rose, who was driving, says that at this point he stooped down to adjust something in connection with the electric lights, and he is of opinion that something struck his car. This was «xt a spot neflr soinft loose metal. The ear rushed on until it struck a concrete telegraph post, damaging the rear mudguard of the car. Mr Rose escaped with a shaking, but Mr Smith ’s .injuries were of such a nature that he was conveyed to the hospital for treatment. Upon enquiry this afternoon it was reported that he is progressing satisfactorily towards recovery.
