TIMARU RIOT.
DAMAGE TO CHINESE SHOPS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) TIMARU, Monday. The Chinese estimate that the damage done at the three fruit shops on Saturday night was about £2OO, besides which £3O was stoleu from a cash register in the principal shop. The manager here of the three shops is an American University man, who had been engaged as a journalist in Chicago. He had two brothers with the American army, who were killed in the war. Ho enlisted in New Zealand, but ivas turned down.
