The mining companies, it is alleged by the men, are not granting the increases which the Minors’- Federation claims -were agreed Vo at the recent National Conference presided over by the Prime Minis- ; ter; and it is considered that if no settlement is reached within a very short period it is almost certain thattrouble will break out afresh in the mines. STATEMENT BY PREMIER. “I cannot say anything positive or definite on tlie. matter, ” stated the Prc- ? micr when interviewed. “I know there has been a little trouble, but X don’t think it is at all serious. 1 think it is a misunderstanding simply, which will soon be put right. lam getting a report on the matter, and may be in a position to speak more definitely tomorrow. ”
