Captain Matthews, after reconnoitring, attempted to land, but the motor refused to act and Matthews lost eontrol'of the machine, which crashed in a banana garden adjoining the Hying ground. The aeroplane was destroyed, and Sergeant Kay had some ribs damaged. Further flight has been abandoned. SYDNEY TO MELBOURNE. (Received Monday, 10.35 a.m.) . SYDNEY, This Day. Commercial aviation has advanced a further step in Australia by the completion of the Right of an Avro machine with a passenger from Melbourne to Sydney in nine, hours. The machine returns to-morrow with, another passenger.
