The men chosen will be Rifleman Croxton, the winner of the last New Zealand Kmg:f Prize, and Sergeant Loveday, N.Z.E.F., winner of the last King’s Prize'at Bisloy. As a result of Mrs Kaye's visit it is hoped to form a branch of the Y.W.O.A. in Masterton. A Gisborne tjjlegram states that a widow named Mrs Winter Hamon committed suicide by strangling herself yesterday. She had been indisposed for some time with a gastric, complaint, and was an inmate of a private institution; The deceased appeared to be in good spirits after dinner, but when the mirse returned she found that the woman had secured a strap and banged herself to the bed. She leaves two young sons.

A telegram from Invercargill states that a young woman pended guilty in the Police Court yesterday to a charge of concealment of birth, and was committed for sentence. She gave birth to a child at a house in the country where Me was employed as a domestic servant. The child was stillborn. On the following morning she attempted to bury it in the garden, but, her strength being insufficient, she burned the body in the kitchen range. A push chair is advertised for sale.
