HYDROELECTRIC SCHEME.
INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE.
The Committee of Investigation which has been working for the purpose of having an electric power- district established, in the Wairarapa, has successfully completed the first portion of its programme, and now-advertises a large petition from ratepayers throughout the whole district proposed to constitute the "Inner Area."
The "Inner Area" is that portion of the Wairarapa Valley to which according to expert advice the means of csftiveying electricity will be a practical and business-like undertaking. There is also an u Outer Area" provided for, to which at any time that closer settlement may- warrant it, the lines can be extended for supply of
current.
• The petition now complete is advertised in this issue and will be presented to the Governor-General approval from the date of this publ|M-~'' • A plan showing that portioiajM? each County included in the "Inner Area." may now be inspected at the office of each County Council, and the petition, together with a plan of the whole district, is open for inspection, at the office of the Carterton Borough Council.
The -whole of the Boroughs of Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, Featherston, and Martinborough are, of course, included.
