COSY THEATRE.

- "ON TRIAL." : A splendid six-act drama has been secured for screening at the Cosy Theatre this evening/whie Ins entitled "On. Trial." The self-confessed murderer of Trask (James Young), Strickland (Sidney Ainsworth), cares little about defending himself. His attorney, first by his cross-examination of Strickland's daughter Doris (little Mary McAlister) brings out a suggestion of an affair between Trask and Mrs Strickland (Barbara Castleton), and second, in examining Mrs .Strickland, brings to light the fact that years before Trask took advantage of her innocence. This is sufficient to call for a verdict of not guilty from eleven of the jury, the twelfth holding out because money disappeared from Trask's safe on the night of the murder, and, with all evi-. (lenee with the exception of the stories of .Mrs Strickland and Doris pointing to Strickland as both a thief and a murderer, he still believes the prisoner guilty. However, Glover (Patrick Calhoun), re-examined, breaks down and confesses to the robbery, thus clearing the way for Strickland's ultimate acquittal and his reunion with his family. Taken all round, this is one of the most dramatic features we have had here for some time. A good selection of humorous and interesting films will be shown in support.
