MASTERTON SEAT.
ME SYKES , CANDIDATURE,
Mr G. R. Sykes addressed a crowded meeting at Hukamii last night, when lie received an enthusiastic reception from the settlers. Mr Anderson, the schoolmaster, was in the eluur, and in his introductory remarks stated that >Mr Sykes had been very alert mthe interests of the district, especially in regard to the returned soldiers and other important matters. The speech was upon the usual lines, at the conclusion of which the candidate received a hearty vote of thanks and confidence, upon the motion of Mr A. Pratt, seconded by Mr F. Harrington. The speaker satisfactorily answered a large number of questions. Mv Sykes considers this quite the most enthusiastic meeting of his tour. MB McLEOD'S CAMPAIGN. Mr Alex McLcod, Labour candidate) ■addressed a splendidly-attended meeting at Matawhiwi last night, and was well received. The candidate spoke for about one and a-half hours and touched on many important questions. At the'conclusion of the Meeting, Mr McLeod received a vote of thanks. Mr MeLeod will speak at Mauriceville to-night and Masterton to-morrow .night.
