51.r ]V. 11. James, of Masterton, waff elected auditor for the local branch of the New Zealand Sports Protection League at their meeting last night. At last night's meeting.of the New Zealand Sports Protection League, Mr C. V. Yatcs, of Masterton, was elected secretary and treasurer of the local branch. A Sydney cablegram states that Mr Wade is retiring from the Agents Generalship in December. Mr Jameß, Minister for Education, will probably succeed him. The death occurred at Greytown on Sunday of Mr Kobert Bell, formerly caretaker «of the Greytown Soldiers* Club and swimming baths, at the age of seventy-four years. Mr and Mrs W. Miller, of Wrigley street, celebrated their silver wedding" yesterday. In the evening a large number of friends and relatives gathered at?the residence of Mr and Mrs Miller to extend to them their congratulations and wish them long life and prosperity. During the evening several songs were* Ming and a most enjoyable time spent. Mr Sydney Munns, third son of Mr and Mrs W. IST. Pahiatua, died at Woodville on Sunday at the age* of 26 years. Deceased was only married , about three months ago. The late Mr Mnnns was keenly interested in sport, and won the Pahiatua Swimming Club , a. championship last season. Whilst on military service in Samoa three yearsago deceased contracted malaria, which seriously affected his health.
