SHOOTING FATALITY.
MAJOR MACDONALD KILLED.
(By Telegraph— Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday.
A sad fatality occurred at Cheviot to-day, resulting in the death of Major G. K. Mac-Donald, late of the Royal Flying Corps, and son of Mr R. M. MacDoiiald, of Christehurch. Deceased went out with his gun about 7 a.m. to shoot rabbits. A shot was heard shortly afterwards, and the deceased, not returning to breakfast, a search was made, and he was found dead lying beside a fence.
His gun was on the other side of the fence when it exploded. The body had a gunshot wound in the right side under the breast. From the wound and the position of the body it is surmised that Major Mac Donald placed the gun over the fence preparatory to getting over himself, and in doing so jolted the gun, which went off and knocked him backwards.
