DIRECT ACTION CONDEMNED.
"I stand in this .mlesl as opposed to direct action in every shape and form, for 1 believe that direct action is nothing more nor less than a claim on the part, of certain sections of the public to dictate the general policy of the country, Avith the alternative of stopping the Avhole industrial machinery," stated Mr Wilford at Eastbourne last night. "As both the leaders of the,two great, parties have said, we need men Avho are strong and experienced, and Avho love their country. A man Avithout A country, or a man who is disloyal to his country, cannot be expected to make his country his first consideration when legislation is being considered. I believe these elections will shoAV that only a small minority of the people will stand for industrial trouble; for the country is sound. Its people are sound at heart, and its future, AA-ith strong, experienced men at the helm, is assured and certain."
