A CLEVER ENTERTAINMENT

The. entertainments given annually by the pupils and ex-pupils of the Lansdowne school have become so popular in Mastertou that they are now eagerly looked forward to by hundreds of people who enjoy a, bright musical performance. It is no wonder, therefore, that the Opera House was crowded last night when the charming operetta '' The' Mystic Mirror/ was staged. Those par ticipating in the operetta had been carefully trained by Mr R. C. Drummond, headmaster, and by their performance they did the utmost credit to themselves and their teacher. The cast of characters had been carefully chosen, and the operetta went with a swing from start, to tiuish. The audience was not. slow to show its appreciation, and the generous applause must have been gratifying indeed to the young performers. A number of "imps,'-' trained by Mr Harry Hall, and the fairies, trained by Mrs Kendall, were special features of the entertainment. The cast of characters was a,s follows: —

Jackson, C. Minifie, L. Jensen, G. Chesterman, V. Xorrnan, I). Reynolds, D. Napper, S. Harman, A. Fear; Fairies, F. Barnes, L. Smith, T. Allan, X. Johnstone, K. Emory, I. Halliday, C. Drummond, .K. .Denby, S. Paterson, A. Collie. S})lendid incidental music was supplied by au orchestra comprising M.iss L. itall, Miss Kedmau, Messrs ITatton, Allen, Holder, Spelior, Taylor ami KusseU.
