The Times' Washington correspondent says that Senator Lodge, who will be the majority leader in the Senate, has issued a statement- that- the League covenant would not bo acceptable unless it was further amended.
The correspondent adds: A bitter fight in the Senate against the covenant is contemplated, although, many Republicans aro for the League.
