GRISTS IN EGYPT.

Previously wo have been told that the riota in Egypt wore the result of Bolshevism, pro-Germanism, and several other "isms." A cable to-day rather "gives tho show away." It says that the Government is instituting an enquiry with a view to reforming the administration in Egypt. Tho troublo in Egypt did not originate with the hoodlum element; it was tho outcome of strong agitation and action by the intellectual class. Therefore tho cable has probably unwittingly supplied us with the key to the whole trouble. Apparently reform is much needed in tho administration of Egypt, and it-is-to be hoped that the British Government will give the matter their .serious attention. Immediately prior to tho war the administration of Egypt was not entirely satisfactory; it, has been much worse during the war, and apparently worse still since the armistice.
