MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

THE LABOUR CANDIDATES.

As some of the candidates selected by the Mastcrton Labour Party to contest the forthcoming municipal elections are not very well-known to the general public, the following particulars have been supplied to us for publication:—

Mr H. Brader.—President of the Wairarapa branch of the Freezing Workers and Allied Trades Association, a director of the local Workers , Co-op. Store, member of the Oddfellows' Lodge, member of tho A.P.Q., chairman of committee of the local Workers' Debating Society.

J Mr B. Chapman.—Member of Friendly Societies' Council for nine years, and a past president; on board of directors of Workmen's Friend Building Society for seven years, and at present is chairman; on board of managers of Friendly Societies' Dispensary; for past twelve ; years on "Wairarapa Eugby Union mani agement committee; member of the Fire I Brigade for four years.

Mr Sam Sinclair.—Previous*to coming to Masterton was a prominent athlete at championship meetings. Is at present the president of the Carpenters' Union, member of the local pipe band, a director of the Workers' Co-op. Store, chairman of the Waingawa Sick and Benefit Society, and Labour's representative on the Patriotic Association.

Mr H. O'Leary. —Was a member of the school committee for 21 years, Hospital Board for over 12 years, director of Technical School for 7 years. Has been a director of the Workmen's Friend Building Society for 13 years, and a Borough Councillor for the last eight years.

Mr W. Candy.—Labour representative on Patriotic Association; treasurer of the Foresters' Lodge for over 20 years; a director of the local Friendly Societies' Dispensary; been on the Borough Council for eight years; is chairman of the park, cemetery and library committees, a position he has held for four years.

Mr A. McLeod. —Past president of the Labour Party; was for three years president of the Shearers , Union; at present a Dominion member of the executive of the A.P.U., also on the executive of the Masterton Labour Party; a Borough Councilor for several months past.

Only two candidates —Mr Pierce Cotter and Mr W. H. Jackson —are so far definitely announced for the Masterton Mayoralty.

So far thirteen candidates are announced for the nine vacancies on the Borough Council. There is a probability that further candidates will shortly be announced.
