Sergeant E. Woodley, of the Mount Cook Police, has resigned from tho force.

Messrs T. Hodgins, W. C. Eccleton, E. P. Badger, G. C. Taylor and N. H. Judd havo been appointed a local repatriation committee for Pahiatua.

Constable, P. Berthelseu, Avho has been stationed at Nelson for the past 8£ years, has received notice of his transfer to Tenui, in the Masterton district. The Government has reappointed Mr Harold Bcauchamp, of Wellington, and Mr J. H. Upton, of Auckland, as directors of the Bank of New Zealand for a further period of two years as from March 31st.

Messrs 11. H. Armstrong and H. M. Boddington ha\"C been appointed the Wairarapa Egg Circle delegates to the

NeAV Zealand Poultry Association's Confernce, that is to be held in Christchurch next Wednesday and Thursday.

Advice has been received that Private Edward O'Sullivan, an undischarged soldier, died at the Auckland Hospital on March Ist from empyema and abscess of the brain. Deceased was 33 years of age aud single, his next-of-kin being his mother, Mrs M. o 'Sullivan, Masterton.

Tho following have been selected by ballot to contest seats in the interests of the Masterton Labour Party at the coming municipal elections: —W. Candy, H. J. O'Leary, A. McLeod, H. Brader, B. Chapman, S. Sinclair. There were three other candidates.

At the annual meeting of the Wairarapa Egg Circle, held last night, the folloAving officials were elected for the ensuing year: —Committee, Messrs 11. H. Armstrong, C. J. De Lacey (Carterton), G. F. Knapp (Greytown), G. L. Hayne and F. J. Fellingham (Masterton); auditor, Mr R. O. Jarrett; secretary and treasurer, H. M. Boddington.

A welcome home social to Corporal W. Moss Avas held at Newman on Wednesday nightj and was exceptionally Avell attended. Mr W. Dowsett acted as M.C., and Mr and Mrs Watts supplied the music. In making the usual presentation of £5, Mr T. F. Calton paid a high tribute to the personality of the guest, mentioning that he had enlisted from a pure sense of duty and devotion to his country.

The following Wairarapa soldiers, who returned by the Port Melbourne, will arrive in the district to-day:—Mas-terton: Falconer, Jackson, Naysmith, O'Kane, O'Reilly, Parsons, Pember, Tilley, Tiukham, Tyacke, Walker, Wilton. Eketahuna: McAnulty, Woodley. Pahiatua: Avery, Blay, Ericksou, Kelly, Naylor, Payne. Carterton: Hooper, Smith, Thompson, Willis. Featherston: Williams, Warren, Stockbridge. Hukanui: Watts, Mabey, Baucke. GreytoAvn: Wenden. Cross Creek: Gooding. Mangatainoka: Pilkington (2).

The annual report of the Technical School Managers states: —111-health necessitated the resignation of Mr D. Grant, Avho had conducted the Avoodwork and the building and machine-con-struction classes for some years. Mr F. Waitc Avas appointed to the vacancy. Miss H. 11. Ross, desiring to return to her home in Dunedin to retire from teaching, also resigned. Her place Avill bo filled by Miss M. W. Mackie, of the Westport Technical School. Mr D. E. Parton, district telegraph engineer, who had conducted the school's magnetism and electricity class during the session, Avas transferred to Christchurch. The Board places on record its appreciation of the able services rendered to education by all these teachers. Indeed, to tho entire staff, acknowledgment is tendered of the conscientious and excellnt Avork perofrmed during the past session.
