SCIENCE CONGRESS.

TECHNICAL PArEKS BEAD.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHKISTCHUEOH, Wednesday.

At to-day's sitting cf the Science Congress several papers were read, mostly of a technical character.

Dr. A. C. Adams, Government Astronomer, Wellington, gave a lecture on "Tables of Mathematical Functions." He said that he had been led to construct the tables by a request for help from Mr Evan Parry, recently Government Electrical Engineer in New Zealand, who found that the ordinary tables of natural logarithms were not sufficiently minute- for bis practical use in electrical work. Mr Parry had assured him that tables of that character were required by electrical engineers generally.

Mr Powell said the tables were of very high value, and Dr. Adams should be congratulated on iiis work.

Mr E. Bruce Levy, of the Government seed-testing station at Levin, gave an address on the methods adopted at the station. Emphasis wa3 laid on the gratifying fact that so much had been accomplished to raiso the standard of seeds sold in New Zealand, without having to resort to compulsory seed enactments.
