MEMORIAL WORKSHOP.
I MEETING IN MASTERTON. A meeting in furtherance of the above movement was held last night in Knox Hall, Masterton. The chairman, Rev. R. Inglis, in introducing Mr Norris, of the National Service League, stressed the need of such a movement, and hoped that the lead they wero giving would commend itself to all who had the interests of our disabled men at heart. Mr Norris, secretary of the National Service League, made a statement explaining the development and administration of the "Lord Roberts" workshops in Britain. The following resolution, moved by Mr G. B.- Sykes, M.P., and seconded by Rev. T. W. Russell, was carried unanimously:—"We (request the National Efficiency Board to undertake and arrange ofr the establishment of four memorial workshops in New Zealand as a national tribute to the memory of tho brave men of this country whose lives havo been sacrificed in the world war, the object being to provide training and permanent work for our disabled soldiers and sailors after tho style of the Lord Robeiijts-' memorial workshops in England.'* The chairman read apologies from the following gentlemen who were in entire sympathy with tho movement: —Mr Hornsby, M.P., the chairman of the Efficiency Board, Rev. J. Walker and Mr Summerell. It was decided to send out 2000 circulars to all governing bodies, civil and ecclesiastical, th e expense entailed being met by the meeting, Mrs Armstrong generously donating £10. Votes of thanks to the chairman and Mr Norris brought the meeting to a close.
